It’s Looking Like a Sizzlin’ Summer Coming Up!

It’s early June, and it’s really sizzlin’.  We were quite surprised and distressed on Friday, June 3rd when a fire broke out about 1/2 mile South of Gold Vine Grill on Mt. Aukum Road!  It’s really early in the season, but with high temperatures,  dry brush and a mild wind, the conditions were ripe for a fire.  So, we’d just like to remind everyone to be careful this summer, if you’re camping and have a campfire, be sure to extinguish it completely before you leave your campsight.  If you see smoke or fire, call 911 right away.  A quick response can make all the difference.  We want everyone to have a safe and happy summer.

Father’s Day is coming right up on Sunday, June 19th.  Even though we all know how much dad’s love to grill, why don’t you give him a break this year and bring him out to Gold Vine Grill for a delicious lunch or dinner prepared by Chef Greg?  You know, he’d probably really love a big juicy Rib Eye Steak, or a Calamari Dore.  We’d love to have you, so please call for reservations soon! Mellowood Vineyard with Linda Neal will be featured this month on Wednesday, June 22nd.  Greg is really excited to get together with Linda to create a great menu to accompany her very nice wines.  This dinner is a 4-Course wine paired meal…the cost is $50.00 per person, which includes all food, drink, tax and gratuity.  Linda is a very delightful person, who enjoys meeting people and sharing her very good wines with them.  If you’ve never been to her winery, it is located on Mellowood Way just off of Omo Ranch Road, next to Latcham Vineyards.  This dinner promises to be one of our best, so please make your reservations soon, as we only seat 12 people at the table.  This more intimate setting allows the guests to become better acquainted with the host and the wines.  Hope to see you there!

The Barbera Festival is coming right up on June 11th, from 11-4 at Terra d’ Oro/Montevina Winery in Plymouth.  The event is $50.00 per person, and features barbera wines exclusively.  This event is held in the middle of the day, and typically it is very warm as it is an outdoor event.  So,  just be sure to wear a hat, and your shades, drink plenty of water, and come in here, where it will be nice and cool after the event.

New Menu News:

Chef Greg & I are currently working on new menus, and will keep you updated on our progress.  Greg uses a rue (mixture of 50/50 flour to melted butter) to thicken his sauces, and this is what prevents the Gluten-Free crowd from enjoying his delicious sauces.  He is experimenting w/ gluten free flour to create gluten free rues, so that everyone can enjoy any of the sauces that he is so talented at making.  I am shopping out gluten free bread & buns, and we’ll introduce those soon as well.  If anyone has found a source for gluten free bread/buns/french rolls, please feel free to let me know!  We are constantly striving to develop ways to reach out to the various tastes of our community & those of our visitors.  We welcome your input.
